Mankato Chamber of Commerce Senior Spotlight: Samantha Fogo

October 9, 2017

The Mankato, KS Chamber of Commerce took on the Senior Spotlight project for the 2017-2018 school year in an effort to encourage students to consider returning to Jewell County in the future and to ask important questions about how they think our communities could be improved. For our community to grow in the future, we need to listen to what our young people have to say. Please enjoy this week's Senior Spotlight Interview with Samantha Fogo.

Q: If your had the power to change anything, what would it be?

A: If I had the power to change anything, I would change the opinion people see of others to help inspire world peace. I hope that by inspiring peace, people will realize that peace comes from not only loving others but loving yourself. This will in turn allow the world to stop craving power and start loving again. “When the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace.” - Jimi Hendrix.

Q: What is something that most people may not know about you?

A:One thing most people may not know about me is that I’m part Scandinavian.

Q: In terms of businesses (Service, retail, etc.) what do you believe is missing in Mankato that would benefit the people of Jewell County?

A:Mankato has plenty of opportunities for people to start or rekindle business although I wish that it was more focused towards the younger population. I believe that it would help to bring a younger generation of adults back to the community.

Q:Where do you see yourself in ten years?

A:In ten years I will be out of college and hopefully helping John Tyler with his business.

Q: What are some improvement you would like to see in Mankato in the future that would entice our youth to return?

A:Personally, I think that fixing up the museum and possibly bringing in more businesses like Possibilities would help bring in a younger generation back to Jewell County.

Q: What is your favorite way to spend a Saturday?

A:My favorite way to spend amy Saturday would start off by sleeping in until noon! After I wake up I would listen to music and online shop until it was time to go to bed again.

Thank you for reading and taking the time to get to know Samantha Fogo! Keep your eye out for this great student and take the time to introduce yourself and encourage her to pursue a future in Jewell County!
