The Mankato, KS Chamber of Commerce took on the Senior Spotlight project for the 2017-2018 school year in an effort to encourage students to consider returning to Jewell County in the future and to ask important questions about how they think our communities could be improved. For our community to grow in the future, we need to listen to what our young people have to say. Please enjoy this week's Senior Spotlight Interview with Allison Havens.
Q: If your had the power to change anything, what would it be?
A: If I could change anything in the world, it would be how people are towards each other, not all, but some. Some people don’t have manners, how they treat people, in public and in private. There are people who have no respect for others and they aren’t very nice about it.
Q: What is something that most people may not know about you?
A: Something most people don’t know about me is that I am always thinking outside the box, I am quiet about things sometime, but usually say something that is at least understandable and goes along or even might be better than what was said.
Q: In terms of businesses (Service, retail, etc.) what do you believe is missing in Mankato that would benefit the people of Jewell County?
A:Things that could help Jewell County would be an all purpose store, not just Kier’s, but something a little bit more than them.
Q:Where do you see yourself in ten years?
A:I see myself in a good job that I took for college, I plan on going into college to be a surgeon. It will take several years to achieve, but I do plan on doing so and accomplishing it.
Q: What are some improvement you would like to see in Mankato in the future that would entice our youth to return?
A:What could help bring younger adults back to Jewell County would be jobs, possibly more store, or restaurants, or even enlarging any type of job, like the hospital. Anything that would help bring more people to a business where they were from.
Q: What is your favorite way to spend a Saturday?
A: I like to spend my Saturday’s with friends and family.
