The Mankato, KS Chamber of Commerce took on the Senior Spotlight project for the 2017-2018 school year in an effort to encourage students to consider returning to Jewell County in the future and to ask important questions about how they think our communities could be improved. For our community to grow in the future, we need to listen to what our young people have to say. Please enjoy this week's Senior Spotlight Interview with Caitlyn May.
Q: If your had the power to change anything, what would it be?
A: If I had the power to change anything, it would be to stop bullying. No one needs to get bullied and feel like they are worthless.
Q: What is something that most people may not know about you?
A: Most people don’t know that I go straight home after school or work and study for college and do my school work so I can be ahead of the game, and I have a job on the side so I can save up money for college.
Q: In terms of businesses (Service, retail, etc.) what do you believe is missing in Mankato that would benefit the people of Jewell County?
A: I believe that a fitness center would be a huge benefit in Mankato because I know so many people that like to work out and run but there’s no place around to workout without driving at least an hour.
Q:Where do you see yourself in ten years?
A: I see myself as a veterinarian that travels around and helping out the animals in Jewell County so they have a happy life.
Q: What are some improvement you would like to see in Mankato in the future that would entice our youth to return?
A: I would like to see a fitness center and a bowling alley that would have arcades, music, and food/drinks.
Q: What is your favorite way to spend a Saturday?
A: My favorite way to spend a Saturday night is with my family and my dog with no tv or electronics and just having a good time.
