Mankato Chamber of Commerce Senior Spotlight: Emma Reinert

December 20, 2017

The Mankato, KS Chamber of Commerce took on the Senior Spotlight project for the 2017-2018 school year in an effort to encourage students to consider returning to Jewell County in the future and to ask important questions about how they think our communities could be improved. For our community to grow in the future, we need to listen to what our young people have to say. Please enjoy this week's Senior Spotlight Interview with Emma Reinert.

Q: If your had the power to change anything, what would it be?

A: I want to lessen the difference between the richest and poorest people across the world. I don’t like how some people have it all while some people have nothing - especially when it’s through no fault of their own.

Q: What is something that most people may not know about you?

A: Not many people know that spending a few years as a Disney World performer is one of my life goals! Like, how cool would it be to help bring my favorite childhood movies to life?

Q: In terms of businesses (Service, retail, etc.) what do you believe is missing in Mankato that would benefit the people of Jewell County?

A: We need a public gym or wellness center! THis would benefit everyone from older people to teenagers like me who want a structure place with plenty of activities for getting exercise.

Q:Where do you see yourself in ten years?

A: I don’t really know or care where I’ll be or what I’ll be doing as long as I’m happy with who I am. Happiness is something I strive for in my life, si if I achieve this in ten years, I think I’m doing alright.

Q: What are some improvement you would like to see in Mankato in the future that would entice our youth to return?

A: I think more youth would return to Jewell County if we had a different/wider variety of jobs. The world around us is growing with technology more and more, and I think more people would return if we did the same! This would create different jobs AND create the vibe people look for in the city of other areas.

Q: What is your favorite way to spend a Saturday?

A: Ideally, I would spend all my Saturdays adventuring or painting or learning something new. I’ve always been an artsy and curious person, so these activities are perfect for me!

Thank you for reading and taking the time to get to know Emma Reinert! Keep your eye out for this great student and take the time to introduce yourself and encourage her to pursue a future in Jewell County!
